Heat Insulation

Sheep Wool Is An Outstanding Insulator

Our sheepwool achieves top insulation values by its very nature and offers a unique combination of product benefits unmatched by any other insulation material. Wool fibres are hygroscopic by nature, meaning they can absorb up to 35% of their own weight from the surrounding atmosphere, helping to preserve the surrounding timbers.

While absorbing this moisture, wool releases energy in the form of heat, thus raising the temperature of its surrounding areas. Naturally releasing this moisture in the warmer seasons, wool creates a cooling effect on the same surroundings.

Heat Insulation

Air Purification

Sheep wool creates a healthy room climate

Sheep wool is able to purify the air in a room within a very short space of time, removing many odours and harmful substances such as formaldehyde.

Sheep's wool stands out in many areas, such as fire protection, indoor air, acoustics, air quality, recycling and thermal insulations Especially regarding an indoor climate and air purification, sheep's wool is the ideal choice. Due to its basic protein component keratin, the material can absorb and neutralise common toxins found in household air. In addition, moulds do not stand a chance here. Due to its hygroscopic property, sheep's wool can absorb up to 33 percent of its own weight in moisture - but the thermal insulation remains intact.

Air Purification

Humidity Regulation

Bring the Natural Qualities of sheep wool into your home

Sheep wool fibres are hygroscopic by nature, meaning they can absorb up to 35% of their own weight from the surrounding atmosphere depending on the humidity, helping to preserve the surrounding timbers. Meaning sheep wool insulation can regulate humidity without losing any of its insulating properties.

Humidity Regulation

Ionic Protect

The new, innovative wool protection

Ionic Protect is the most useful invention since virgin sheep wool has been used as an insulation material. Biocide-free and EAD/CUAP tested.

IONIC PROTECT ®  is a slight alteration of the molecular protein structure of the wool fibre through a plasma-ion treatment. This specific process is unique as it prevents wool from being a nutritional source for wool parasites. It is a biocide-free process developed and protected by trademark patents to protect wool from all wool pests.

Plasma ion treatment of the wool fibres protects them from all negative influences in construction. That way, you don't give moths and insects a chance. In addition, our products can be stored indefinitely thanks to the wool protection.

 Fire Protection

Sheep's wool insulation provides quality and safety

Crimped wool fibres give sheep wool insulation particularly good resilience and a higher fire resistance than cellulose and cellular plastic insulation.

It does not burn, but instead singes away from fire and extinguishes itself (Wool has a very high ignition point of 560°C due to its high Nitrogen content of ~16%). Sheep wool insulation is self-extinguishing because of its high Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI=25.2), which means to completely burn wool, an oxygen content of 25.2% is necessary, whereas air only has 21%. Wool has a higher fire resistance than cellulose and cellular plastic insulation.

Fire Protection

Sound Insulation

Provides natural sound insulation benefits

Sheep’s wool insulation offers excellent acoustic absorption thanks to its crimped fibre structure and natural porosity, which trap and dissipate sound waves through friction and thermal exchange. With a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.90–1.05 (depending on thickness and density), it performs particularly well in the mid-to-high frequency range, where speech and everyday noise are most prominent.

Beyond absorption, sheep’s wool also contributes to sound transmission loss (STL), improving Rw ratings in partition walls, floors, and ceilings. Its ability to retain loft and performance under varying humidity makes it a durable, natural solution for long-term acoustic comfort.

Sound Insulation

Sustainable

Sheep Wool is a Natural Raw Material

As a natural product, sheep wool is shorn twice a year and can be returned to the environmental cycle at any time.

Being made from a naturally produced fibre, sheep wool insulation requires less than 15% of the energy required to produce glass fibre insulation. It is a sustainable and renewable resource, that has zero ozone depletion potential and at the end of its useful life can be remanufactured or biodegraded. Sheep wool insulation is safe and easy to handle and no protective clothing or special breathing apparatus is required to install it.

This oil on canvas captures the serene beauty of sheep grazing amidst the harvest season in rural France. Millet's loose, sketchlike style brings the countryside to life, showcasing the harmony between nature and agriculture.

Some breeds, like Merinos, can grow up to 8 kg, while longwool breeds may produce 10+ kg of fleece in a single shearing.
